The Pros and Cons of Google Adsense Videos

Google Adsense is a small, effortless way to possibly make a few dollars off of a personal blog. The link ads are placed on your blog and viewers that click the links are taken to a sponsored site and you get paid a tiny amount of money for the effort of placing the ads on your blog in the first place. But, Google has changed things a bit. Google has gone YouTube!

The YouTube ads are just as customizable as the text and image ads being used by many Google Adsense consumers. You choose to create a YouTube account and pick a player style and theme for your YouTube ads. The final step is to choose the keywords for the ads placed on your site and embed the code into the blog pages.

After the player has been embedded, it suddenly appears on the blog and the viewers have the chance to watch the video and click on the link to the site that is displayed on the top or the bottom of the player.

The pros:

  • The set up is easy and effortless. A true novice can set up one of these ads in a few seconds.
  • The ads are much more relevant than many of the text ads currently matched to a blog by Google.
  • The video ads are less annoying than the image ads.

The cons:

  • The video player looks awkward on the screen of the blog.
  • The videos are not as lively as I would like them to by. Many are just the amateur videos that appear on You Tube.

Overall, for a beginner, the newer You Tube video ads may increase that Google Adsense bottom line a bit, but it will only be a bit. The real money is not in Google Adsense anyway, you blog needs to look for a video affiliate.
