When blogging there are clearly different types of posts that are more popular with readers. These posts bring in traffic and please the return readers to your blog. Blog postings are categorized into many different genres, but these are the top three for the best blog posts types.

The Linking Post. Inevitably, other bloggers will account for a large number of your readers. If you want to increase that traffic, give your fellow bloggers something to look forward to. Scanning the Internet for some of the most relevant and best blog postings of the day or the week is a great way to give back to those readers. Fellow bloggers will love the attention and may just link back to you as a thank you for your time and attention to their blogs.

The Best Of Post. Readers love it when blogs revisit some of the most popular and best blogs of a given time period. These blogs are the ones that created the best traffic upon initial posting, so combining them together in a “best of” post will just increase the traffic to your blog all the more. Keep in mind, the posts may need to be weeded a bit if the information is not on an evergreen topic or is no longer relevant to the current times and happenings.

The Coming Soon Blog. An introduction to the exciting things you have in store for your blog is a great way to get readers to keep coming back. Tell them of the plans you have for new content, possibly a switch to a new template. Any changes that you are feeling you may be willing to make in the time ahead. Sometimes, readers will even chime in on how good of an idea they think the change will be.

Blogging is about more than simply placing words on the computer screen. There is an art and a science to creating a blog that readers enjoy coming back to. Changing up the way you post can bring in fresh views and fresh readers to your blog and move the blog all the closer to the star you wish it to be.
