Start your Blog and start with a plan
So you want to start a blog but you have no idea where to start. Probably the best thing you can do right now is to sit down and start to write a plan. Call it your Blogness plan, Business plan or whatever you want to call it. The reason for the plan is to start gathering your ideas and putting them into something you can go back to reference, modify and add to. This plan will be the foundation for which you start and build your blog.
I will outline a few of the basic items your plan will include but not get into any great detail. The idea here is to get your creative juices flowing and putting your ideas on paper.
The very first thing you are going to have to come up with is what you will be Blogging about. This is sometimes the hardest part for people to figure out but it should because it is the single most important thing when it comes to creating a blog. You can either write a paragraph or put it in list form but this should be the first thing you define when creating your plan.
Another important thing to define is your frequency of posts. Once you start getting readership they will expect to be able to get fresh articles on a regular basis. Once you decide on your frequency, stick to it. TIP: When starting out under promise and over deliver. Start by posting one article every other day or twice and week and then shot for one post a day during the week and taking the weekend off.
Here is a list of other things you will want for your plan:
- Whether to use your own domain or a hosted blog on a site like Blogger.com, Wordpress.com or typepad.com
- What hosting service to use.
- A short term and long term to do list
- Your marketing plan.
- Idea and brainstorming section.
Remember this is just to get you started. Your ideas of how your plan should be organized and what it includes is completely up to you. It can be as short or as long as you want. It can be added to or taken away from as needed. It is an ever changing manuscript for your Blog Success.

Nice post. A plan does make it a lot easier to keep on track with things. Without a goal your just throwing darts at a board.
