Put your ear to the ground

When you pay attention to the things going on in your niche and even on your blog its easy to come up with new relevant articles to keep your blog fresh. One of the best ways to do this is to keep track of the posts that are getting a lot of comments and really creating a buzz. This can be on your blog or other blogs.

In addition to this you can look at stats to see which of your old posts are still getting decent traffic and bring that post back to the front with a fresh write up. One thing that amazes me, is how people still like some of the old articles I’ve written and how they continue to have conversation around those articles.

Want more ideas on how to put your ear to the ground to keep up with whats hot? OK. . Well taking it a step further, how about checking the latest forum posts to see what it is that is really popular and using that topic for some new posts? Or even checking out some social groups, like Yahoo or Google groups, or even MySpace groups. Join these groups and keep track of the activity these groups are generating. There is nothing wrong with tailoring your posts to fit in here.

One more way to track the buss is Google news, or any other news site that you can subscribe to particular areas of interest and tailor your search results to match up with your blog.

These are just a few ideas that you can use to monitor buss and popularity of things to help you write even more successful ideas. Keep coming up with other great ways and keep your ear to the ground.
