Fall is a great time for Keyword prediction

Now that Summer is officially over its my favorite time of the year to dig in and predict search terms. As always, we as bloggers should first write for people and secondly for the search engines. But with a little research there’s no reason we can’t write for both.

So why now? Why is the beginning of Fall significant in predicting search terms? Well that depends on your niche and your target audience. The reason I like Fall better than any other season is due to the shift in activities people tend to do. In the U.S . people are starting to spend less time outside and more time inside watching TV and on the Internet. This is due to the seasonal changes . Another good reason is we are under 100 days until the gift giving season. So words like iPod, Apple, Wii, Xbox, Halo3 and all the other hot items are sure to be hugely popular keywords. Maybe too popular to really get good use of. But there are thousands other that may fit into your niche.

Lets analyze the areas of opportunity.

The Holidays – researching hot products and the must have toy for the year. There is a shift happening where more and more people are looking for gifts online which is a huge opportunity for retailers and bloggers alike.

New season of Television – People love their prime time Drama and reality shows. Every morning following an episode of Survivor or American Idol people are standing around talking about what happened last night and what’s going to happen next. The conversations are heading alone where you can find other fans of shows and converse with thousands of people rather than a few.

Fall Sports – Football, NASCAR, fantasy leagues and the World Series. Need I say more. Guys like their sports and want to know what’s going on with their teams.
