Define your marketing campaign
As your blog grows and you continue with your Search Engine Optimization and marketing duties are you defining the goals? Depending on the types of products and services that you offer on your blog will define what your ultimate goal is when a reader lands on your blog.
If your blog is one that sells advertising space you know that increasing your traffic and PageRank will increase the value of your advertising rates and create more value for your sponsors. So just getting people to visit the site and increase your stats could be the goal of your marketing efforts. On the other hand if you are selling a product of service your goal may be to convert more visitors to buyers or subscribers.
Defining these goals doesn’t have to be rocket science either. People think of marketing and they see this big question mark looming over them. Let’s do a little exercise to make this point a bit more manageable.
Examples of defining marketing ideas and campaigns
Marketing tactic - Hold a contest to give away a free advertisement spot.
Goal - Have other bloggers write a review and link to the site to increase number of incoming links by 150.
Marketing Tactic - Buy $150 in PPC advertising.
Goal - Increase number of subscribers by 100 for the month of the PPC campaign.
Marketing Tactic - Purchase a banner spot on another blog in my niche.
Goal - Increase sales by 5% for month of ad campaign.
You can get an idea of how easy it can be to define your goals. But don’t stop here. Kep going with your ideas and analyzing your analytics to see whats working and whats not.
