I'm blogging for business, and I'm using Typepad. I liked what you said about "...make sure the blogging platform you choose is one that you are compatible with and one that you completely understand..." That's exactly why I choose Typepad. I never found my way around the Wordpress user interface and I never found the answers I needed in their help section. And I could not customize Wordpress to fit my needs. Yes, Typepad is a paid service, but you get what you pay for, and I am willing to pay for what I get at Typepad, because I cannot get it at Wordpress.

I would say that Wordpres stands out form the rest. Blogger can also work, but you have to keep posting and getting people to add u to their link roll to keep it alive.
