Thanks for the tip! I hadn’t even considered that a spammer might try leaving a legit comment just to get his foot in the door. Shame shame!

Wow, some pro-spammers will use this way I guess since most of them uses spam bots which spam with the same message over and over again.

However, if a blog is on a auto-approve after first time approve option, the blogger must be careful of comments like “Nice one” and “I don’t understand”.

I think it’s a good thing that you monitor your comments; the idea that someone would post one good comment followed by 32423 spam ones just shows that it is necessary to look at each one to see if it adds any value to the conversation. Like you said, it slows it up a bit but I think the quality is worth it.
