At the beginning of each new month I take the opportunity to evaluate my past goals and set new goals for the future. Evaluating how I did achieving my goals is only the beginning. Here are a few things to keep in mind as your evaluating your goals and how you can better plan and attain your goals.
Determine your success areas- The goals that you set and accomplished are your areas of success. Determine what it was that helped you reach this goal and keep doing it. Better yet keep doing it and make it even better. Always refining your systems and processes for the things you do well, will help you attain your goals easier and easier over time.
Determine areas that fell short- If you set goals and always reach them, you might want to re-evaluate them and possibly be a little more ambitious with setting yourself higher standards. If you set goals that you think were attainable but you didn’t hit the mark, then find out what prevented you from getting there. If it is something that you can do differently to reach your mark then adjust and try again.
Turn your weaknesses into strengths- Those are little words of wisdom I use when I need to get better at something to reach goals. I know what I am good at, but its the things I need to work at that keep me from moving forward. So what I do is put those things at the top of my focus list. Not hitting a mark and telling myself its just because I’m not good at that particular thing is not acceptable. We have to hold ourselves accountable for things like this.
Set the next set of goals- Set your next set of monthly goals and continue monitoring your long term goals to make sure you know where you are in relation to where you need to be.
So what are your methods for setting, achieving and evaluating your blogging goals?
