5 Things to do every week starting today

Do your HomeworkWhen was the last time someone gave you some homework for your blog? Probably never, right? Well this week I am going to give you some homework that you will do and not only will you do it this week but each and every week for the rest of your blogging career. Its for your own good.

CAUTION: If you can do this in conjunction with everything else great. But its designed so you do a little every day in addition to the rest of the stuff you need to do.

Monday

Add 5 sites to your Technorati favorites

If you don’t have a Technorati account then you need to get one. This is required for all bloggers. Once you have an account go to 5 blogs that you read and add them to your technorati favorites. This will not only give you a constant feed of good information that you like, it will help get yourself noticed by those blogs.

Tuesday

Subscribe to 5 blogs RSS Feeds

Again this gives you a stream of content that you will most likely enjoy and like they say, What comes around goes around. Good things come to those that do good thing.

Wednesday

Email 5 bloggers

Email 5 bloggers in your niche and introduce yourself. This is a building your network exercise. Include a little blurb about yourself but more importantly tell them why your bothering them and maybe tell them you enjoy reading their blog.

Thursday

Submit 5 stories to Social Networks

Submit 5 stories to Digg, Reditt or any other social news site of your choosing. I don’t mean your stories and articles either. I mean articles of other fellow bloggers. This will become easier and easier as you accumulate feeds in your reader. Great articles just kinda stand out from the crowd.

Friday

Comment on 5 other blogs

Leave comments on five different blogs of post that you read. This will get you noticed by the bloggers of that blog and any other readers that leave comments as well.

**Extra Credit**

Saturday

Guest Blog on another blog

Offer to guest blog on at least 1 blog in your niche. You may have to start building up relationships in the beginning or send them a copy of your article but after a while it will become easier and easier.
or
Write a review of another site
Write a positive review of another blog. This will give your readers another blog to check out and get you on the good side of another blogger. They will often give you a link back in a future post or at least subscribe to your feed.

Sunday

Spend the day with family and reflect back on another successful week.

You have now completed 25 things for the week that probably took an average of a half an hour each day. If for some reason you had a crazy amount of extra time you could spend an hour and a half each day and complete 125 tasks per week. Not bad for a little extra work.

Now its your turn. What else would you add to the homework list for bloggers? Add your 2 cents and leave a comment.

Internet arena is getting bigger every day. Internet service providers are using different technologies, like dsl and wireless internet connection to provide the high speed. Now a days you can get wireless internet connection, if you have wireless phone. Different site hosting companies are providing solutions for businesses and to buy domain name related to the business has become common trend. In the similar way unique logo design has taken the form of subfield.

Yea nothing ground breaking here. Just a reminder to us bloggers that we need to be organized and do a little something extra everyday. :-)

I write a weekly article for a large blog. At what point does the law of diminishing returns kick in? I knew it would be good for my site to write for him, but is there a point when I will want to stop doing so?

Wow that is a really good question? I would like to tackle that in a post in the next couple of days. I don’t actually know I have a definitive answer but I have an idea.

I’ve been working so hard lately that I forgot I am suppose to be able to work less and less over time for the same results.

These are great tips. I would take it a step further though. Maybe feature a weekly roundup on your blog, listing all of the things you’ve bookmarked, submitted, or added to your feed for “extra credit.” Share with your readers what you’ve found interesting this week. I’ve been thinking of doing something like this on a weekly or monthly basis.

Thanks for the additional tip Justin. I started doing this very thing about 3 weeks ago. I call it “Sphere of Blog Weekly Wrap for the week of . . .” the name is kinda cheesy so I may change that in the future.

By doing a round up though it gets you some exposure from other blogs in your niche who will in turn give you a link in the future and share the link love.

Thank you Jason for this great list - all
those tips or suggestions are in the back
of my mind as good things to do to promote my blog - but having an organized
list is going to be my inspiration for the next few weeks!
Also think Justin’s suggestion is a very
    good one.
    Thanks guys
